Some of you may remember a maternity session I did about a month or so ago for a beautiful mom to be Melissa.

Melissa last night went into labor – and around 3:30am I got the message via txt, that she was in fact on her way to the hospital. Upon arrival she was having contractions every few minutes… but I figured since it was baby #1 – we had plenty of time. So I went ahead and jumped in the shower to get half way presentable myself… by the time I got out, I had another txt from the father – and the txt was “she’s 9 cm…” – My immediate thought was “there is no way I will make it!” – but I proceeded to get ready and within 10 minutes or so I was out the door on my way.
The hospital was a solid 45 minutes away – since it was so early, there was no traffic, which helped with the driving time.
I got to the hospital around 4:30am – and I really did think by the time I got in there, she’d be ready to push.
Labor did slow down though and for some reason her body held onto that last cm with all its might.
Baby Payne was born at 9:30 or so AM – not sure the exact time :) – but it was hours after I arrived.
Mom and Dad both did so good. I must say she was probably one of the prettiest laboring women Ive ever photographed. I mean seriously? I looked like I was the one in labor HAHA. She was so well put together and soft spoken. I loved that she cried when the time got close and as they cleaned baby she had just a beautiful serene expression with tears rolling down her face. It was perfection.
So thankful all went well and that he is here safe. He is beautiful.
Here are a few picture’s Melissa has cleared for me to post to the blog :) – To help share the experience.
Enjoy.

The txt and phone calls were going out :)

Look at how pretty she is laboring!

You could tell Dad was so in love.

One of my favorite parts to photograph is when baby is getting checked out by the nurses.
This is something we as the moms don’t really get to see. Since during this time, we are being
squeezed, pushed, sewn or cleaned. It is a time you almost never see.

Its official “you are parents” :) – those matching bracelets totally make it legit hehe.

Can I just say, I love baby feet.

Congrats again Melissa & Rick! I can’t wait to see him again for newborn pictures. I will def. get my cuddles in then :)
